NCC inter group sports shooting championship concludes

Chandigarh, May 9, 2024:
Inter Group Sports Shooting Championship 2024-25 of the NCC Directorate Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (PHHP&C) concluded here today. The event was conducted at the Police Firing Range in Sector 25, Chandigarh from May 01 to 09, 2024, which served as a platform for the cadets to showcase their exceptional skills and talent in the realm of shooting sports under the command of Major General Manjeet Singh Mokha, Additional Director General, (PHHP&C).
As many as, sixty-four cadets from eight groups participated in the tournament. The championship comprised four matches with 22 sporting Rifle category open sight, including prone and three-position shooting, conducted at the 50-meter police firing range. Each group, comprised of eight shooters, demonstrated remarkable accuracy, precision, and consistency in their shooting endeavors.
Out of the talented pool of participants, a total of 13 cadets emerged as medalists including Kapil Dev Rana ( Chandigarh ), Chetan (Patiala ), Punit Kumar (Rohtak), Shivam Thakur (Chandigarh), Gyanender Beniwal( Rohtak ),Piyush Pathania (Chandigarh), Reetu (Ambala), Khushdeep Kaur (Patiala), Akanksha (Chandigarh), Rupal (Ludhiana), Nikita (ambala), Palak Galhotra (Patiala) Kritika Dadwal ( Chandigarh). The Chandigarh group secured the first position, followed by Ambala and Patiala groups in second and third positions.
Furthermore, the championship also served as a qualifying platform for the selection of cadets to represent the Directorate at the prestigious Inter Directorate Sports Shooting Championship to be held in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, scheduled to commence on July 2nd, 2024.
The rigorous training sessions, coupled with professional coaching under the guidance of Brigadier Harpreet Singh, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarters Chandigarh, Col Paramjit Singh, Commanding Officer of 2 Chandigarh Battalion NCC, contributed significantly to the cadets' development and success.
